Selecting a DAW

DAW (Digital Audio Workstation): A digital audio workstation or DAW is an electronic device or computer software application for recording, editing and producing audio files such as songs, musical pieces, human speech or sound effects.

Necessary Features to Consider while Selecting the right DAW.

Selecting a DAW is an important task just because you will be selecting it only once in the beginning because as per my experience once you completely know a DAW after using it it will be difficult to again switch to another DAW. Lets get Started with these features to look for in the DAW.

1. Good Interface:

A good and a easy to understand and go through is necessary because if you wanna become a hard core producer you definitely will be spending much more time in front of the computer and DAW. So if a DAW looks sexy it can help you stay in front and keep you working for long.

2. In Budget:

Obviously this should not be a factor of consideration if you are much more passionate about it but one should also consider this Factor because each and every DAW costs different and sometime the cost is for only a few period of time.

3. Stock Plugins:

What plugins come built-in the DAW are they giving you the all the necessary basic plug-ins consider it first if you are a beginner. Because if a DAW provides you good enough stock plug-ins you can create a whole new songs using them only.

4. Updates:

One of the other important factor to consider while selcting a DAW is that it should get updated with the new features. Most of the DAW’s get free lifetime updates but there are many DAW’s that provide you with the free updates.

5. External Instruments or devices support:

The most important factor if you are a professional and have access to the Diffrent Studio Equipments the DAW should support all the things that you are going to connect to it. There have been some complaints or bugs in the DAWs as some of them didn’t even take a MIDI input from a basic Keyboard or a Drum Machine.

6. Supports Going Live:

There have been some of the DAWs that allow Producers to go live when they are producing music so if you are an producer looking to show your creativity by going live you can use this feature or use a DAW that has this feature.

Conclusion:

Selecting a DAW is a difficult start because it is difficult to find such a DAW which gives you all the features that you desire. Each one is unique on its own. Its important to consider other factors also like User Expertise, Right platform, minimum requirements by the DAW etc these Factors are so obvious that I dont need to write about them.
